Cedric Thompson is one of the first professionals from the English-speaking Caribbean to earn the dual distinction of Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations. With over a decade of experience in investment management, Cedric has developed a robust expertise in research, strategy, and portfolio management, making him a recognized authority in the field.
Currently, Cedric serves as the Investment Management Strategist at the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation (TTUTC), where he leads strategic initiatives and develops multi-asset portfolios for both aggressive and conservative investors. His contributions include building and optimizing investment strategies, managing complex portfolios, and providing key insights for value creation.
Experience
Cedric began his career at TTUTC as a Senior Portfolio Manager, where he managed a USD $900 million Trinidad and Tobago Dollar equivalent in balanced funds and pension portfolios. In this role, he designed strategic multi-asset portfolios using Modern Portfolio Theory, catered to a diverse range of investors. His analytical skills allowed him to identify growth opportunities across traditional and alternative asset classes.
As an Investment Management Strategist at TTUTC, Cedric developed corporate investment strategies, optimized revenue streams for the organization, and advised the firm’s 18-member investment team. He also led reviews of strategic proposals and policy documents aimed at enhancing returns for unit-holders. Cedric has represented TTUTC at high-profile meetings, including AGMs and investor briefings, and has been a trusted voice in the local investment community.
